A few years ago, we caught the famous Transcontinental train, The Canadian, from Toronto in the east, as far as Jasper in the Rockies. It was a late evening departure, perfect for an early dinner, before joining the train at the beautiful Toronto Union Station. After stowing our luggage (and before retreating to the observation lounge car), I hopped back off for a few minutes to photograph the light reflecting off the beautiful 1950s stainless steel Budd cars, just in time to get our conductor doing a final check of the train. It was certainly a magnificent journey’s beginning!
